About Us

KURY UK Ltd is part of an international company, Kury Groupe, 100% dedicated to the nuclear field and created 26 years ago. Since then, we have been working with EDF (French Electricity Producer). We are involved in several nuclear projects, including FA3 EPR (France), the French fleet, Taishan EPR (China), Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. We are now looking for engineers to join our Team in the UK. Our human-sized structure (100 employees worldwide) allows us to devote ourselves to mentoring and training our engineers. We take special care of our employees’ development by ensuring them quality projects through which they will increase their skills.

Suitable Candidate

You enjoy analysing concrete problems, finding solutions and then setting them up. Getting involved in significant industrial and engineering projects involving very demanding precautions as regards industrial safety captivates you. Your good analytical skills, sense of logic, aptitude for synthesising and your scientific knowledge will allow you to adapt quickly to multi-system environments. You have the ability to adapt to new technical problems. You know how to manage a small-sized team. You like the idea of working on Projects and Quality matters to you. You are a good team player.

The Role

As an HVAC Engineer, you will be in charge of the following activities:

  • The System design and system integration
  • Produce, review and update the system documentation for the mechanical and thermos-hydraulic design, operator instructions, human-machine interface, safety and environmental, control logic design as well as periodic testing in compliance with the engineering rules, methodologies, quality processes and tools.
  • For instrumentation and control, performing the analysis for defining the I&C functional requirements of the system and production of the I&C logic: Writing of the Instrumentation & Control Functional Requirements, Detailed Functional Diagram, Functional Test Platform procedure specifications, I&C logic description, alarm sheets, operating images and operating modes. Analysis of the FTP results.
  • For mechanical design: Sizing of components e.g. Pumps, fans, pipework, pressure relief valves, tanks. Perform thermal-hydraulic calculation and modelling with in-house or commercial tools. Ensuring the 3D model is consistent with the intended system design. Formulate equipment specification and provide the data in respective database or datasheet.
  • Support to procurement team in formulation of technical specifications for contract documentation.
  • Support to procurement team in technical surveillance of supplier documentation.
  • Be in charge of the analysis and the verification of input data, requirements and lessons learned from other stations.
  • Engage proactively with all stakeholders around the system in the client’s side to ensure the delivery of a product meeting the requirements set by all disciplines (layout, civil, hazard, nuclear safety, environment, configuration management, procurement etc).
  • Contribute to topics around good practices, innovation, improvement of processes, and quality.
  • Participate in experience-sharing activities within the discipline.

The management of modifications related to the system including Managing requests for modification to system(s) issued by various external parties by producing specifications and following the engineering cycle (I&C and/or mechanical design changes specifications). Analysis and verification of the applicability of these modifications and challenging them as appropriate. Developing technical solutions and presenting them to the client to help resolve technical issues (technico-economic optimisation approach). Utilising the electronic Engineering Change Management tool.

The System coordination support for the relevant building

  • Producing and updating component datasheets for handovers with detailed design.
  • Producing and updating P&IDs with all relevant design changes for handovers with detailed designers.
  • Liaising with other stakeholders through participation at kick-off meetings, gate reviews etc relevant to the system.

During the first months, you can count on the KURY Team to assist you all along your projects. This experience will give you the opportunity to move on to other projects in the medium term: you will tackle varied but complementary projects, studies and technical topics. Your understanding of the technical and environmental challenges will allow you to take on complex and critical transversal studies.

Required Skills

  • Relevant experience in the nuclear industry, on an operating plant, or in an industrial project.
  • Knowledge of EPR system design principles, Instrumentation and Control architecture and Safety Classification.
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to produce high-quality documents and respect deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: ability to communicate clearly, proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project.
  • Conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
  • French-speaking and reading would be an advantage.
