They are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support projects across the North of England and Scotland. This is a field‐based, travel‐intensive role, well suited to an engineer who enjoys hands‐on commissioning in live water treatment environments.

The Role

Reporting into the Commissioning Manager, you will play a key role in taking projects from mechanical completion through to successful handover and operation. The role carries a strong emphasis on safety, technical rigour, and collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Commissioning Manager to oversee the full commissioning lifecycle, from equipment handover to system activation, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinating commissioning activities on site, ensuring labour, specialist resources, and equipment are optimised to meet programme requirements.
  • Participating in design reviews and contributing to control philosophies, commissioning strategies, and risk assessments.
  • Producing and maintaining commissioning plans, procedures, test documentation, and final handover packs.
  • Supporting fault finding, system optimisation, and performance validation on water treatment assets.

Candidate Profile

To be considered, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Electrically qualified (e.g. NVQ / HNC / equivalent).
  • Proven experience working on water or wastewater treatment sites.
  • Demonstrable commissioning experience on process plant or packaged systems.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety within regulated environments.
  • Full UK driving licence.

This is a travel‐heavy role, with an average of three nights away per week, therefore applicants must be fully comfortable with regular overnight stays.
