Founding Product Designer – Stealth AI Startup (London)
Package: Up to £150,000 salary + meaningful early-stage equity
Location: London (3 days per week in-office, flexible otherwise)
Bloom is partnering with a high-growth, venture-backed AI-native startup to hire a Founding Product Designer. This team is building a world-class consumer product with design at the heart of the journey. Backed by top-tier investors and growing fast, they’re building technology that changes how people discover and operate in this market. This is a true founding design role with high ownership, real influence, and the chance to shape not just the product, but the design function itself from day one. The company is among the fastest-growing in the UK, having raised £3m at pre-seed, with a seed round announced soon. You’ll help build an AI-first product at the forefront of a category that is wide open for disruption.
The role
As the Founding Product Designer, you’ll own design end-to-end. This goes far beyond screens and UI – it’s about solving a deeply human problem with clarity, empathy, and taste. You’ll work closely with the founders and engineering team to define:
- how the product feels
- how it behaves
- how it earns trust with its users
You’ll be responsible for shaping the experience from first interaction through to successful outcomes, and everything in between.
What You’ll Be Working On
- End-to-end product experience: Designing intuitive, elegant journeys from onboarding to success moments, making complex workflows feel simple and delightful
- Visual language & brand expression: Defining the look and feel of the product, ensuring it feels premium, trustworthy, and clearly differentiated in a crowded space
- User research & insight: Speaking directly with users, analysing behaviours, understanding motivations, and grounding decisions in real insight rather than assumptions
- Strategy, experimentation & validation: Testing ideas early through prototypes, landing pages, and experiments before committing engineering effort
- Design → engineering collaboration: Working closely with engineers to ensure designs are implemented to a high standard and shipped with pace
- Iteration through data: Using engagement, retention, and qualitative feedback to continuously improve the experience
You’ll likely thrive if you…
- Are a product thinker first, visual designer second
- Care deeply about why something should exist, not just how it looks
- Can move quickly without sacrificing taste or clarity
- Are highly empathetic and motivated by building tools that genuinely help people
- Want to build something from the ground up and shape the design culture as well as the output
You don’t need to tick every box; curiosity, judgement, and ambition matter more than a perfect CV.
