Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering design consultancy, is establishing a new satellite office in the South East and is seeking an experienced Head of Water / Regional Water Engineering Lead to build, lead, and grow a high‑performing multidisciplinary water design team. This is a senior leadership opportunity, suitable for candidates seeking either a permanent role or an Outside IR35 contract, offering genuine influence over team structure, culture, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and develop a South East water design office
- Build, lead, and grow a multidisciplinary design team
- Identify, attract, and retain high‑calibre engineering and management talent
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a positive and collaborative culture
- Plan and scale the team in line with strategic business objectives
- Ensure all design deliverables meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Drive integrated, compliant, and timely design outputs
- Promote best practice, appropriate software tools, and effective design processes
- Manage design change control and maintain accurate project documentation
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years’ experience within a regulated engineering environment
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex projects
- Degree or HND in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively working towards chartership
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Strong IT and digital design capability

- Significant experience within the regulated water sector
- Experience establishing or growing new teams or satellite offices
