Are you a Grid Connections specialist who enjoys solving complex connection challenges and getting projects over the line with the networks? I’m supporting a growing renewable energy developer/infrastructure business that’s expanding its portfolio across solar, BESS and onshore wind in the UK. They’re looking for a Grid Connections Manager to own the end to end grid process across a developing and operational portfolio.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead grid connection activities for new build solar, BESS and wind projects from feasibility through to energisation.
- Prepare and submit connection applications (ENQ, BCA, CNA), working closely with DNOs, IDNOs and the ESO.
- Review, challenge and negotiate connection offers to secure the most cost effective and deliverable solutions.
- Support network studies, load flow, fault level and capacity assessments in collaboration with internal and external engineers.
- Provide grid input into site selection, design and due diligence for new projects and acquisitions.
- Act as the main point of contact for all grid related matters across development, construction and operations.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of grid codes, policy changes and emerging flexibility/grid connection routes.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in grid connections within renewables, IPP, utilities, DNO/IDNO or consultancy.
- Strong understanding of UK distribution and/or transmission networks (typically 11kV–132kV).
- Hands‑on experience preparing or managing grid applications and working with network operators.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, SLDs, connection offers and protection arrangements.
- Comfortable communicating complex technical issues to non‑technical stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Experience on BESS and co‑located projects (solar + storage).
- Knowledge of NGESO processes, TEC, queue management and wider connection reforms.
- Familiarity with power systems studies software (e.g. PSSE, DIgSILENT, IPSA) – not essential.
- Exposure to commercial aspects of connections (capex, curtailment risk, constraint management).
Why this role?
- Work at the forefront of the UK’s grid and energy transition challenge.
- Real influence on which projects move forward and how they’re connected.
- Chance to shape grid strategy across a growing portfolio, not just single assets.
- Clear progression into Senior/Lead Grid, Development or Technical Management roles.
- Competitive package + benefits + strong development pathway.
