Job Responsibilities:
- Drive to customer houses and premises.
- Liaise with customers to ensure installations can take place.

- Work at height – climb ladders safely.
- Work in underground telecommunications chambers and street cabinets.
- Install fibre cable to customer premises.
- Install a network connection point in customer premises.
- Explain the new connection to customers and ensure their satisfaction.
Information:
This is an FTTP Installation Engineer position; full training is provided by MGroup Telecoms. The role comes with a van, tools, and a fuel card. The van is provided on the first day of training, so you will need to reach the training centre by other means. Training centres are located in Risby, Bristol, Chorley, and Blantyre (as dictated by the work programme).
Payment in training is £109.89 per day (up to 45 minutes travel) or £30 extra if training is beyond 45 minutes and no hotel is used. The rate for a full install is £50 per job (full install – internal & external) with a 5% uplift for work inside the M25. The rates for partial installs are £25 per job for FTTP build-to-the-wall – step 1 or FTTP home install – step 2; sub-provide installs are £16 with a 5% uplift for work inside the M25. Once up to speed you should be doing an average of 4 jobs per day, up to 6-7 at peak.
You are PAYE employed via an umbrella payroll company; you will cover employment costs. There is a £22 per week payroll fee and you cover PAYE tax, Employees NI and Employers NI. Holiday pay is stored back from your pay. Pension is auto-enrolled and paid by yourself after 12 weeks of employment (opt-out is possible). We hold a retention pot of up to £500 to protect M-Group/Avonline and their assets. It operates once installs begin and is taken weekly; once it reaches £500, no further retention is taken. Any speeding or parking fines, or damage to customer property, van, or tools will be deducted from this pot and the remaining amount will be returned to you 28 days after leaving.
This is work outside in all weather conditions. This is physical work; some equipment/materials are heavy. Samsara system – a live CCTV and location finder for health and safety for you and the company.
If you have a Smart Awards card, you will need to change employer & sponsor; you will receive an email on what to change. The interview with the client lasts 20-30 minutes covering health and safety and your knowledge and experience.
