A leading defence technology organisation is seeking an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Project Engineer to join their specialist EMC team. This role provides the chance to work across multiple programmes, supporting product lifecycle development from concept through to disposal, ensuring robust EMC design and qualification strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Environmental Requirement Specifications (ERS), EMC Control Plans, Proving Plans, Proving Requirements, and Proving Instructions.
  • Support projects to ensure correct EMC requirements are implemented and designs are robust.
  • Review hardware, perform informal testing, and provide hands‑on support where necessary.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver EMC solutions on time, to budget, and to quality standards.
  • Contribute to risk reduction and qualification strategies to bring products into service.

Skills and experience required

  • Higher education or equivalent experience in Electronics, Electrical, Physics, EMC, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of EMC principles and design practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work to deadlines and budgets.
  • Professional, adaptable approach to evolving project requirements.
  • Knowledge of military EMC standards (e.g., Defence Standard 59‑411, AECTP500, Mil‑Std‑461, RTCA DO160 / EUROCAE ED‑14) is desirable.
  • Previous experience delivering EMC support across complex systems is advantageous.
