An established engineering organisation is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its Field Service team, providing engineering support and maintenance across the full product lifecycle at customer locations in the UK and internationally. This role involves planning and prioritising work to support procurement, installation, testing, configuration, and ongoing maintenance activities in line with contractual, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the Team Lead with planning, assembly, and testing of manufactured equipment and cables
- Deputise for the Team Lead when required
- Carry out on-site installation, commissioning, and setting‑to‑work activities in line with project plans
- Support routine maintenance cycles, ensuring quality and legal compliance
- Assist with obsolescence management and equipment lifecycle support
- Attend land and sea trials to measure, service, and maintain equipment
- Produce and update technical and project documentation to company and customer standards
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems (maritime experience desirable)
- Understanding of acoustics and computer networks
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Willingness to travel extensively, including at short notice
Qualifications & Requirements
- Engineering qualification (minimum HNC level)
- Ability to obtain SC or DV security clearance
- Sole UK nationality
- Full UK driving licence
- Computer literate
- Flexibility for ad-hoc UK and international travel
