Pullman Rail, a subsidiary of Transport for Wales, is seeking a Project Manager to lead heavy maintenance and rolling stock overhaul projects at our Cardiff facility.

Location: Canton, Cardiff

About Pullman Rail: From our South Wales facility, we provide comprehensive services including vehicle overhauls, heavy maintenance, component repairs, and system upgrades to a large proportion of the UK rail fleet. We aim to be the engineering and overhaul partner of choice to the UK Transport Network.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Ethics: Support the Pullman Rail SHEQ strategy, ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Delivery & Excellence: Meet time, cost and quality targets while driving efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Project Leadership & Governance: Plan, execute, and control projects, translating contract scope into lifecycle delivery plans.
  • Financial & Commercial Control: Manage budgets, forecasts and margin trackers, identify risks and opportunities.
  • Performance & Reporting: Set KPIs, prepare dashboards and status reports for stakeholders.
  • Collaboration & Customers: Serve as the primary customer interface, building strong relationships with TOCs, ROSCOs, and internal teams.
  • Risk & Change Management: Identify, manage and mitigate project risks, support controlled change implementation.
  • People & Capability: Ensure resources, competencies and skills are in place, capture lessons for continuous improvement.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Proven project management experience within engineering, manufacturing, or other safety‐critical environments, preferably rail overhauls.
  • Degree in engineering or a related discipline, or recognised project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2).
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, cost control, maintenance and overhaul processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and focus on delivery, continuous improvement and customer value.
  • Team player capable of working independently and making sound judgement.

Welsh Language Skills: The ability to speak and write Welsh is desirable but not essential.
