It sits within a technology led manufacturing business where automated test is business critical, not an afterthought. The focus is on designing, delivering and continuously improving manufacturing test systems used on complex electronic products. This could be a strong next step for an experienced engineer who has already taken on leadership responsibility and is ready to formalise that move.
You will be responsible for leading a cross-disciplinary team designing and supporting manufacturing test systems, covering both hardware and software elements. Your role will include:
- Leading, mentoring and supporting a team of multi-discipline Engineers
- Managing team capacity, priorities and resourcing to meet delivery demands
- Providing technical leadership across automated manufacturing test systems
- Designing and supporting test equipment, fixtures and test software (C#)
- Working closely with Manufacturing, NPI, Quality and Development teams
- Defining test strategies, coverage and Design for Test approaches
- Supporting trial builds, pilots and production ramp-up
- Ensuring test systems are robust, repeatable and production-ready
- Driving continuous improvement across test capability, processes and ways of working
- Supporting both in-house manufacturing and external partners where required
What we need from you:
- A bias towards either hardware or software is absolutely fine but you must have an understanding of testing across both.
- Key experience and skills:
- Experience designing and delivering manufacturing test systems
- Strong technical background in either software or hardware test (with system level understanding)
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or managing engineers
- C# experience for test system development or support
- Understanding of electrical measurement, test principles and validation
- Experience analysing test data and improving yield, repeatability and efficiency
- Exposure to mid-volume production environments
- Proven problem-solving skills and practical engineering judgement
- Comfortable with task delegation, prioritisation and resource planning
- An interest in developing people and improving team performance
- Able to balance delivery pressure with quality and sustainability
- Clear, confident communicator across technical and non-technical teams
- Happy to undertake UK & International travel as needed
