This role is part of WWT’s Strategic Resourcing services and is a contract role. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT’s preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner.
Contract Duration: 6 months contract
Location: Bromley, UK (Hybrid - 2 days onsite a week)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with deep expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with advanced networking technologies, automation tools, and operational best practices in large-scale enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain LAN/MAN/WAN networks, ensuring high availability and security.
- Troubleshoot complex networking issues across multi-vendor environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Manage configuration and compliance using tools such as Forward Networks and HPNA.
- Utilize monitoring and diagnostic tools (SevOne, Splunk, NetScout, Wireshark, NDC, HPNA, NNMI, OBM, IBM Watson, NSO) for proactive network management.
- Drive network automation initiatives using industry-standard tools and processes.
- Ensure adherence to security and resiliency standards across metro, long-haul, and subsea optical networks.
Required Skills & Experience
- Expert-level knowledge of core networking technologies: IPv4/IPv6, L2VPN, MPLS-E, Segment Routing, ISIS Level 2, Multicast mLDP, BGP, EIGRP, QoS, UDP, OSPF, MetroE, DWDM, Dark Fiber, Carrier Circuits, Leased Line, Broadband, Direct Internet Access.
- Tunneling protocols: MACSEC, IPSEC, SSL/TLS, GRE, DMVPN.
- Routers, Switches, NHRP, ACL, VPN.
- Strong understanding of optical networking fundamentals and resiliency principles.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network problems in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills; ability to work with all levels of management.
- Self-directed, organized, and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with DMZ, Cisco NSO, and Dark Fiber deployments.
