Macgregor Black are partnering with a market-leading DIY/hardware business to search for an operations manager. This is a full-time, permanent position based in the Midlands.
As Operations Manager, you will take ownership of dayâtoâday operations across the warehouse and manufacturing facility, ensuring seamless coordination between warehousing, logistics, production, and supply chain functions. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence â leading teams, optimising processes, and delivering results across goods in/out, inventory control, and production. This role calls for a handsâon leader who can balance strategic oversight with practical problemâsolving, fostering efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee management of warehouse operations, including goods in/out, inventory control, and storage efficiency.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and operations staff to drive performance and maintain a positive working environment.
- Collaborate with the Buying Team to ensure accurate stock levels, timely procurement, and efficient order fulfilment.
- Work with the Sales Team to ensure that national account orders are processed according to customer requirements and despatched in a timely manner.
- Implement and monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, health & safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process optimisation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety, environmental and legal regulations.
- Play a key role in strategic planning and operational development as the business continues to grow.
- Proven experience in a similar operations leadership role, ideally within warehousing, logistics, or light manufacturing.
- Strong people management skills with the ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organisational and problemâsolving skills with a handsâon, solutionsâfocused approach.
- Good understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (preferably Microsoft Business Central/NAV) and lean operational principles.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience working crossâfunctionally with procurement or buying teams.
- A proactive, canâdo attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering results.
- Full UK driving licence.
