Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the pet care industry? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Dog Groomer to join our busy grooming salon. This is a foundational role where you will learn the "art of grooming" from the ground up.
Under the mentorship of our experienced groomers, you will master the essential preparation techniques that ensure every dog is clean, comfortable, and ready for their haircut. This is a hands-on, physically active role perfect for someone who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty (and wet!) to make our furry clients look their best.

- Deep-cleaning coats using specialized shampoos and conditioners, followed by safe and effective blow-drying techniques.
- Brushing out knots, de-shedding undercoats, and clearing away loose fur.
- Learning to safely clip nails, clean ears, and perform basic paw pad trims.
- Maintaining a sterile environment by sweeping hair, sanitizing tables/tubs, and cleaning grooming tools between appointments.
- Safely moving dogs around the salon and using calm, positive reinforcement to keep them relaxed.
- Assisting with the intake and outtake of pets, including taking notes on owner preference.
- The ability to stay calm and gentle with nervous, elderly, or high-energy dogs.
- You will be on your feet all day, lifting dogs (with assistance for larger breeds), and managing repetitive movements.
- Noticing small changes in a dog’s skin, coat, or behaviour that may need to be reported to the owner.
- A proactive can-do attitude - there is always something to clean or a dog to help with.
- The ability to listen carefully to instructions and communicate clearly with the rest of the team.
- Previous Animal Handling: A minimum of 1 year’s experience in a kennel, rescue centre, or veterinary clinic.
- Breed Knowledge: A basic understanding of different dog breeds and their specific coat types.
- Customer Service Experience: Previous work in retail or hospitality, making you comfortable talking to pet parents.
