We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Sports Coach to join our team, working primarily in schools and camps. As a Sports Coach, you will be responsible for providing high-quality coaching and instruction to students of various ages and skill levels. You will play a crucial role in fostering a love for sports, promoting physical fitness, and helping students develop their athletic abilities. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with children.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engaging and age-appropriate sports coaching sessions.
- Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies for a range of sports.
- Adapt coaching methods to suit the skill levels and needs of individual students.
- Instil values of fair play, respect, and good sportsmanship among students.
- Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication on and off the field.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes mutual respect and appreciation.
- Assess and identify individual student strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Provide personalised feedback, guidance, and support to help students reach their full potential.
- Organise and lead team-building activities to enhance collective performance.
- Maintain a safe environment during training sessions and competitions, adhering to relevant safety protocols.
- Monitor student behaviour, enforcing discipline, and addressing any inappropriate conduct.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, injuries, and incidents and reporting same to your line manager.
- Communicate effectively with school administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding coaching schedules, progress, and any concerns.
- Assist in organising and coordinating sports events, tournaments, and camps.
- Collaborate with other coaches, staff, and external organisations to ensure successful events.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of various sports and the ability to coach multiple disciplines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and encourage students to develop a love for sports and an active lifestyle.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to foster teamwork and cooperation.
- First Aid and CPR certifications, or willingness to obtain them.
- Flexibility to work during after-school hours, weekends, and camp sessions.
- A background check and clearance will also be required.
- Full UK driving license.
- Previous experience as a sports coach, preferably working with children and adolescents.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for sports coaching.
Further Information:
Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
