The role supports the delivery of high-quality after-school football coaching sessions across local primary schools partnered with GM Coaching. The successful candidate will assist with planning engaging sessions, setting up equipment, leading activities under supervision, and promoting a positive, inclusive and motivating environment for all children.

This JobStart role provides hands-on experience within a professional coaching organisation, with training, mentoring and progression opportunities. Full training, mentoring, and development opportunities will be provided by GM Coaching. Travel may be required between partner schools within the Ards and North Down area. Branded coaching kit will be supplied. Opportunities for continued employment may be available on completion of the programme.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver fun, safe and structured football sessions for primary-age children.
  • Assist with set-up and pack-down of equipment.
  • Support behaviour management and ensure safeguarding standards are upheld.
  • Encourage skill development, teamwork, confidence and enjoyment among all participants.
  • Follow session plans and guidance provided by GM Coaching.
  • Maintain a professional presence across partner schools.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong interest in football and working with children.
  • Good communication and confidence when engaging with young people.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Ability to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team.
  • Previous experience coaching or assisting with sports activities.
  • Basic coaching qualifications (IFA/UEFA Foundation or similar).
  • First Aid certificate.
  • Access NI clearance (GM Coaching will support application if required).

Location: Various schools around Ards and North Down.

Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
