The Workshop Assistant will support the day-to-day running of the Hope Centre Workshop at Cornerstone City Church. The role involves assisting with practical workshop tasks, preparing and refurbishing materials, supporting volunteers and participants, and maintaining a safe and organised workspace.

The post offers hands-on experience in a supportive community environment where the participant will improve on practical skills, confidence, and employability.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with basic woodwork, repairs, refurbishment, and preparation of materials.
  • Operate hand tools and workshop equipment under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment, following all health & safety procedures.
  • Support volunteers and participants during workshop activities, encouraging teamwork and positive engagement.
  • Help manage stock levels: receiving, sorting, and storing materials.
  • Assist with setting up community sessions (e.g. upcycling activities, practical demonstrations).
  • Carry out simple admin tasks such as logging materials, updating tools/equipment sheets, or recording completed tasks.
  • Attend all required training sessions and supervision meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Basic communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain focus, complete tasks, and take responsibility for personal development.

Job Start Opportunity - Working Hours Information:

  • Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
  • Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
  • Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
