The Sports Coach will support the delivery of physical activity programmes, training sessions, and community-based coaching activities. The role is designed to introduce the participant to structured coaching, session planning, and athlete development.
Responsibilities
- Session Planning and Delivery: The participant will learn how to plan, structure, and deliver effective sports coaching sessions, including warm-ups, drills, and age-appropriate activities.
- Coaching Communication Skills: They will develop clear verbal communication, instruction-giving, and motivational skills to engage groups and maintain safe, positive participation.
- Safeguarding and Participant Supervision: The participant will gain practical experience in supervising groups, recognising risks, and ensuring safeguarding and welfare standards are maintained.
- Equipment Setup and Operational Management: They will learn how to organise, set up, and safely use coaching equipment, ensuring activities run smoothly and efficiently.
- Performance Observation and Feedback: The participant will develop the ability to observe participant performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide constructive, supportive feedback.
- Record-Keeping and Session Evaluation: They will learn to maintain attendance sheets, record key session information, and assist with evaluating session outcomes to improve future delivery.

JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information: Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
