O'Kane Meats is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our food preparation team. The role includes cooking and chilling products, packing items, washing dishes, and helping prepare ready-to-eat meals. All training will be provided in house. This is an opportunity to learn valuable hands-on kitchen skills.
Responsibilities
- Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients efficiently while following recipes and chef instructions.
- Kitchen hygiene and safety awareness, proper cleaning, sanitising, and food storage procedures to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Work cooperatively with chefs, cooks, and other staff, following directions and communicating clearly during busy service periods.
- Monitor inventory, rotating stock, and correctly labelling products with weights, prices, and expiry dates.
- Safely using and cleaning kitchen appliances such as mixers, ovens, dishwashers, and slicers.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to work in a team.
- Basic food hygiene.
- Knowledge of meat cuts.
Further Information
Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
