Donaghy Engineering is an innovation-driven engineering company designing and building automation, robotics and food-processing machinery. You’ll work directly with the owner/lead engineer on prototype builds, automation assembly, and system development - learning real, modern robotics and automation from the ground up. What matters most is competence, curiosity and a genuine interest in automation and robotics - full training will be provided. You’ll work in a positive, supportive environment where quality and problem-solving matter more than rushing and pressure.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the building and wiring of automated machinery and robotic systems in the workshop.
- Support installation & commissioning of new machines on customer sites (approx. 5% of the time).
- Assist with field service & installation work on food production equipment (approx. 10% of the time).
- Learn and support testing, calibration and basic fault-finding of sensors, actuators and pneumatics.
- Assist with control panels, wiring and robot setup under supervision.
- Occasional fabrication and fitting of stainless components (guards, brackets, mounts).
- Support work on prototype machines and patented automation systems.
Skills and Qualifications
- Competent with hand tools and safe working practices.
- Genuine interest in engineering, machinery, automation or robotics.
- Ability to use basic hand tools (training provided where needed).
- Ability to learn and develop new technical skills.
- PLC, robotics or automation exposure.
- Control panel wiring or machine assembly experience.
- Maintenance / servicing background.
- Food or industrial environment experience.
- Welding or fabrication basics.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).
- Full UK or EU driving licence desirable.
Further Information
- Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
- Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
- Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
