We are a small 17 bed family run, home from home. We are currently on the look out for naturally compassionate and warm hearted individuals to assist the residents as care workers. As a Care Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping our residents live with comfort, dignity, and respect. From assisting with daily routines to sharing a chat over a cup of tea, every moment you give makes a genuine difference.
Responsibilities
- Receiving report from person-in-charge.
- Assisting residents as necessary with personal care needs.
- Facilitating regular activities with residents.
- Assisting in delivering a high standard of holistic care to residents, promoting the core care values of privacy, dignity, rights, fulfilment, independence and choice at all times.
- Ensuring that the high care standards of the home are met at all times.
- Observing and reporting changes in resident’s condition to management.
- Maintaining records in accordance with the home’s policies and procedures.
- Dealing with enquiries when necessary, referring to the Head of Home as appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
- Desire to help others.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A minimum of NVQ Level 2 Award in Adult Health and Social Care or a willingness to work toward this.
- NISCC registered (or willing to apply).
- Be willing to complete an Access NI check.
- Provide 2 references.
- Previous care experience is helpful but not essential - full training provided.
- Experience of working with people with Dementia.
- Experience administering medication.
- Good communication skills with a wide range of people but particularly with older people.
- Experience with team building and leadership skills.
- Appropriate IT skills to be able to use Microsoft Word and the Internet.
- Ability to work on your own initiative.
- Good organisational skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Experience supervising other staff.
Further Information
Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
