Golden Thread Gallery is a leading contemporary art gallery and arts charity in Belfast. We work to make art accessible to everyone by offering free exhibitions, workshops, and community projects in our welcoming city-centre venue. Our programmes foster community connections, develop creative skills, and boost wellbeing.
The primary role of the Visitor Experience Assistant is to work with all gallery staff and volunteers to ensure that visitors have the best experience possible. They will welcome members of the public, assisting across the gallery’s wide portfolio of activities. The Visitor Experience Assistant will report to the Development Manager and work with all team members to ensure that visitors have the best possible experience.
Responsibilities- Working with the team to ensure the gallery and all its spaces are warm and welcoming for visitors.
- Assist in the collection of visitor and participant data and feedback.
- Work with the Engagement Assistant preparing the Engagement Hub for visitors, participants and workshops and ensuring consistent high level of presentation.
- Respond to any public enquiries in a positive manner and ensure that the relevant department is informed of any visitors for meetings.
- Preparing teas and coffees for workshops, meetings, hires or events.
- Maintaining high presentation standards across the gallery spaces.
- Assist in the purchase and preparation of materials for workshops, events, gallery receptions and Late-Night Art.
- Assist in any administrative tasks as required.
- Assist with welcoming visitors and participants as needed and to take time to talk and spend time with visitors as required.
- Saturday working and the first Thursday evening of every month for Late Night Art may be required.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above).
- A demonstrable interest in art and art galleries.
- Experience of working with the public.
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload as part of a busy team and stay calm under pressure.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges.
- Ability to lift, carry, organise and tidy.
- Friendly and adaptable.
- Ability to collate data and contribute to administrative tasks.
Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
