The predicted salary is between 10 - 12 £ per hour.

The successful applicant will join Storybox, a small ethical business dedicated to thoughtful gifting, supporting local makers, and giving back to the community. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of a purpose-driven business where every task contributes to something meaningful, from supporting small businesses and social enterprises, to creating gifts that make people feel truly special.

You will gain hands-on experience in both retail and creative work, learning the inner workings of a growing, socially conscious business while contributing to our day-to-day operations.

Storybox is an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone is valued and supported to grow. The successful participant will receive full on-the-job training and ongoing support from the founder and small team. Tasks will be tailored to the participant’s interests and strengths to provide meaningful learning and practical experience. The role is flexible, and there may be an opportunity to increase hours beyond what is stated if agreed.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the shop by welcoming customers, answering questions and maintaining a tidy, inviting space.
  • Preparing gift boxes including packing, labelling and presenting products to a high standard ready for postage or collection.
  • Supporting stock management by checking deliveries, updating stock levels and organising products.
  • Helping with workshop set up, clearing down and completing simple admin linked to events.
  • Preparing creative content such as simple product photos, short social media clips or arranging displays.
  • Supporting corporate gifting preparation including assembling orders and organising materials.
  • Completing general admin tasks such as printing, filing and preparing materials for the team.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Basic numeracy and ability to handle cash/card payments accurately.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks to a high standard.
  • Organisational skills for stock, packaging and workspace management.
  • Attention to detail in product presentation and gift assembly.
  • Basic digital skills for taking photos, recording stock and simple content tasks.
  • Physical ability to carry out light lifting, stock handling and workshop setup.
  • Interest in retail, gifting, workshops or creative content.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and take initiative.
  • Creativity for visual merchandising and display.
  • Good communication for working with colleagues and customers.
