Youβll work alongside our Facilities Team, helping to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the organisation.
The Facilities Assistant will support the smooth running of daily operations within Disability Action. Working under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor, the post holder will assist with:
- Cleaning and maintaining communal and office areas
- Setting up meeting and training rooms
- Supporting catering arrangements
- Keeping supplies and equipment organised
- Ensuring our workplace remains hygienic, comfortable, and well-prepared for staff and visitors
This opportunity is specifically for anyone with a disability, long-term health condition or difference, such as physical, sensory, mental health condition, or who is neurodiverse or has autism, ADHD, dyslexia or any other type of condition or communication, processing or learning difference. Responsibilities
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the premises, including offices, meeting rooms, breakout areas, kitchens, lifts, corridors, and staircases.
- Damp dust furniture, fittings, ledges, and equipment, including desks, phones, and computers.
- Clean and maintain sanitary facilities and replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
- Clean kitchen areas, including work surfaces, fridges, and appliances.
- Clean partition glass on doors and empty waste bins.
- Bag and remove waste for collection as required.
- Receive and store domestic deliveries appropriately.
- Alert the line manager to any repairs needed for furniture, fittings, or equipment, and the need to order supplies.
- Set up and tidy meeting and training rooms, including chairs, tables, and equipment.
- Provide hospitality as required, including making and serving tea and coffee, and refilling dispensers for groups.
- Assist reception staff in operating the switchboard as needed.
- Support reception with incoming and outgoing post distribution when required.
- Report accidents immediately and comply with Health & Safety regulations.
- Assist with emergency evacuation procedures.
- Adhere to agreed quality standards.
- Undertake any other duties as required, in line with the status of the post.
Skills and Qualifications
- Qualifications in English and Maths and/or at least one yearβs relevant work experience gained through employment, volunteering, or education in a similar or relatable role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and technologies.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to organise own activities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to be a collaborative team player, able to build positive working relationships and contribute to a supportive team environment.
- Able to follow instructions, manage time efficiently, and deliver work accurately and on schedule.
- Professional approach to handling sensitive information, with adherence to data protection regulations such as GDPR.

JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information:
- Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
- Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
- Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
