The Event Support Assistant will provide practical assistance in the delivery of community events. This is an entry‑level role offering hands‑on experience in event operations, customer service, and community engagement. The successful candidate will help ensure events run smoothly and provide a positive experience for all attendees.
Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up and taking down event spaces, including equipment, signage, and materials.
- Support registration, welcoming guests, and providing information during events.
- Help with event promotion, including social media posts and distributing marketing materials.
- Support on‑site logistics such as catering, technical setup, or crowd management.
- Help collect feedback from attendees to improve future events.
Skills and Qualifications
- Learn to assist in planning, organising, and delivering events, including logistics, scheduling, and resource management.
- Develop skills in interacting professionally with attendees, volunteers, performers, and stakeholders, providing information and resolving queries effectively.
- Work closely with event staff, volunteers, and partners, learning to coordinate tasks, support colleagues, and contribute to shared goals.
- Support event promotion through social media, flyers, and other channels, developing basic marketing and communication skills.
- Understand and apply basic health and safety protocols, including risk assessments, crowd management, and emergency procedures at events.
Further Information
Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
