To work as part of a team maintaining a suitable stimulating and varied programme of activities for children and babies 0-4 yrs, which meet the physical, social, emotional and educational needs of the children availing of Falls Women’s Centre childcare services.

Responsibilities

  • To be aware of children’s needs and levels of development to ensure that each child gets the most out of the programme services.
  • Maintain the safety of the children and the childcare facility at all times, ensuring risk assessments are carried out.
  • Take part in special events and outings when required.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with the parents of the children using the childcare facility.
  • Ensure Child protection policy is enforced.
  • Be responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment ensuring it is safe and within the guidelines of the DHSSPS.
  • Maintain high standard of hygiene within the overall childcare building.
  • To assist in maintaining daily records of attendance and notes on children’s welfare.
  • To assist the Childcare Manager with quality assurance.
  • To assist with preparing the childcare rooms before each session and to ensure that it is left tidy and clean after each session.
  • Keep strictly confidential any personal information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learnt as part of the job.
  • Undertake all necessary training.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualification in Early Years Childcare and Education, CCLD, NVQ Level 2 or above.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and 2 years’ experience of working within a childcare setting.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of statutory legislation in regards to children.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of working within community development.

Further Information

Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
