The successful applicant will work in our kitchen and coffee shop at the CityLife Centre as a Chef, Barista & Deli counter staff. Learning to cook breakfast options (fry and omelettes etc) and create various lunch options (daily specials, chicken curry, roast dinners etc). The successful applicant will undertake a range of training courses, including Health and Safety in the Workplace and Food Hygiene Awareness. They will work within a structured team environment, developing new skills and gaining valuable experience in a busy kitchen setting.
Responsibilities:
- Kitchen prep: Switching on all appliances and preparing the kitchen for the schedule ahead.
- Menu creation: Creating new ideas for the dinner menu and daily specials.
- Cooking breakfast, lunch, daily specials and desserts.
- Deli counter and barista duties such as making specialty coffees and sandwiches.
- Cleaning the kitchen at the end of service.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Work well within a team environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions from the head chef.
- Experience working in a kitchen environment is desirable.
- Experience working within a team.
- Experience working in a coffee shop or deli is desirable.
- Well organised, punctual and quick thinking.
Working Hours and Schedule:
- Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
- Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
- Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
