The Post Office Counter Clerk and Sales person is responsible for providing excellent customer service at the post office counter, handling postal transactions accurately, and promoting postal products and services. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage cash and customer inquiries efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and provide friendly, efficient service.
  • Process postal transactions including mailing letters and parcels, selling stamps, and handling registered or insured mail.
  • Weigh, price, and label mail and packages accurately.
  • Handle cash, card, and electronic payments and balance the cash drawer daily.
  • Promote and sell postal products and services (e.g., packaging materials, postal insurance, money orders).
  • Answer customers’ questions regarding postal rates, delivery times, and services.
  • Handle customer complaints or issues politely and escalate when necessary.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks such as record keeping.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic math and cash-handling skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, or postal service.
  • Sales experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays.

  • Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
  • Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
  • Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
