The Operations Assistant role is an on-site, practical position supporting the delivery of markets and events operated by Seasons of the Glens CIC. This role focuses on hands-on experience in event setup, logistics, and customer-facing operations. The role is designed to provide participants with transferable skills in teamwork, time management, practical problem solving, and health and safety awareness, while working under supervision in live event environments. The role involves working within a small friendly team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the setup and dismantling of market stalls, gazebos, and event infrastructure.
  • Supporting the safe layout of trading areas in line with event plans and safety guidance.
  • Assisting with basic equipment handling, cleaning, maintenance, movement, and storage.
  • Supporting event staff during live market days, responding to practical tasks as required.
  • Helping maintain a clean, safe, and organised site before, during, and after events.
  • Assisting with operational tasks before the event day to support smooth event delivery.
  • Learning and following on site health and safety procedures under supervision.
  • Supporting basic incident awareness and reporting processes as instructed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Willingness to carry out practical, hands on work outdoors on site.
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety guidance accurately.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • Willingness to undertake training and learn safe working practices.
  • Basic awareness of health and safety, or willingness to learn.
  • Basic manual handling experience or familiarity with physical work environments.
  • Interest in event operations, logistics, or site based work.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable but not required.
  • C1E licence is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to use own initiative on simple tasks as confidence and experience develop.

JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information:

  • Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
  • Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
  • Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
