We are seeking a motivated and practical refurbishment and maintenance operative to support a variety of refurbishment and maintenance projects across different sites. The Property Refurbishment Operative is responsible for carrying out a range of renovation, repair, and improvement works within residential and/or commercial properties. The role involves preparing properties for occupancy by undertaking tasks such as strip-out works, basic construction, finishing, and remedial repairs while ensuring work is completed safely, to specification, and within agreed time frames. The operative works independently or as part of a team and complies with health and safety regulations at all times. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work. The successful candidate will gain experience in a variety of building refurbishment tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with refurbishment and maintenance of residential and commercial properties.
- Carry out basic building works, including plastering, patch repairs, brickwork, and minor structural repairs.
- Learn internal finishing tasks such as painting, decorating, flooring installation, and tiling.
- Learn plumbing and joinery skills, including fitting fixtures, repairing leaks, hanging doors, and installing skirting or architraves.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and refurbishment equipment in line with health and safety requirements.
- Develop skills in site cleanliness, waste management, and material handling during refurbishment projects.
- Follow Health and Safety procedures at all times.
- Assist the skilled tradespeople on site.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions.

- Previous experience in property maintenance/DIY/refurbishment roles.
- Basic knowledge of painting, plastering and carpentry tasks.
- Previous site or construction experience.

Job Start Opportunity - Working Hours Information:
- Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
- Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
