About the Role
We are looking for a practical, reliable and enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to support the Site Manager with the decoration, general upkeep and maintenance of our Lockington office and grounds.
The role will involve a variety of practical tasks, including general DIY, decorating and helping to prepare and maintain the hall and wider site.
This will include painting and decorating, moving furniture, putting up fixtures and fittings, basic repairs and improvements, and helping with general maintenance around the building and grounds.
You will work closely with the Site Manager, assisting with day-to-day tasks and helping to ensure the site is well maintained, safe, tidy and welcoming for staff and visitors.
This is a varied and hands-on role, which would suit someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in their surroundings and is happy to turn their hand to a range of different jobs.
No specialist electrical, plumbing or other trade qualifications are required.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Site Manager with the general maintenance and upkeep of the Lockington Hall and grounds, with a particular focus on painting and decorating.
- Carry out painting and decorating work throughout the Hall and wider site, including walls, ceilings, woodwork, doors and other surfaces.
- Assist with routine checks of the building and report any maintenance issues to the Site Manager.
- Assist with moving, assembling and positioning furniture, fixtures and fittings.
- Carry out general DIY and basic maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and adjustments.
- Assist with deliveries, moving materials and general site organisation when required.
- Support the Site Manager with other practical tasks and projects as required.
- Work safely and responsibly, following relevant site procedures and instructions.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Practical, hands-on approach with an ability to carry out a range of general maintenance and DIY tasks, with a particular interest in painting and decorating
- Previous experience of painting, decorating, property maintenance, building maintenance, DIY or a similar practical role.
- Have a basic understanding of health and safety requirements when carrying out practical maintenance work.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of work.
- Reliable, organised and able to manage tasks independently.
- Flexible and willing to undertake a varied range of practical duties.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work positively with colleagues and contractors.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to identify jobs that need doing and take appropriate action.
- Have a positive, can-do attitude and enjoy working as part of a friendly team.
