About the role: We are seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Environmental GIS / BNG Consultant to join our growing team at the Lockington Office. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide specialised GIS support to our multi-disciplinary experts in ecology, arboriculture, and landscape architecture. You will play a pivotal role in a diverse project portfolio, ranging from bespoke residential developments to national-scale infrastructure projects, delivering the spatial analysis and cartographic figures essential for our statutory reporting.

The role will involve:

  • Data Processing & Management: Transforming surveyor notes and raw field data into high-quality, structured GIS layers for a broad range of field surveys.
  • Precision Spatial Analysis: Accurately map GIS data and provide precise calculations using a range of GIS data manipulation techniques.
  • Calculate Biodiversity Impact: Quantify habitat losses/gains in accordance with the Statutory Biodiversity Metric, ensuring technical accuracy in all Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) calculations.
  • Cartographic Production: Designing and generating precise and clear figures that will be included within professional reports.
  • Multi-Disciplinary GIS Support: Acting as a central resource to meet the diverse GIS requirements of our ecology, arboriculture, and landscape teams.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good knowledge of GIS software (preferably QGIS).
  • An aptitude for creating maps and presenting datasets that are not only accurate, but clear and professional.
  • An attention for detail.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills.

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience within an ecological consultancy.
  • Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain calculations.
  • Experience with QGIS models.
  • Experience with Python.

Education: A degree in GIS, related environmental field or equivalent experience.

Salary: Starting Salary Graduate Environmental GIS / Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Consultant £25,500. This is a full-time position with core working hours 9:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.
