We’re looking for two passionate and proactive individuals to join our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) team at Somerset Council.
What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.
You will report to the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Lead and contribute to the development and delivery of EDI strategies, policies, and initiatives. You’ll work with council departments, elected members, community groups, and partner agencies to ensure our services and workplace are inclusive and equitable.
As an EDI Advisor, you’ll play a key role in embedding inclusive practices across the organisation and supporting our commitment to fairness, respect, and opportunity for all for those that use our services, work for us and the wider community of Somerset.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EDI strategies and policies.
- Provide expert advice and support on EDI matters.
- Deliver training and awareness programmes.
- Monitor and report on EDI initiatives and compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to promote an inclusive culture.
- Represent the Council at external EDI events and forums.
- Support services to embed equality into all aspects of their work.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in EDI, ideally with a focus on either employment equality or data analysis.
- Strong understanding of EDI legislation and best practice.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver impactful outcomes.
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
