Make a meaningful difference to local residents. We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Community Transport Manager to lead our in-house community transport service and oversee the council’s wider fleet. This is a crucial role supporting older people, residents with disabilities and those who are isolated or unable to access public transport. As part of our Community, Health & Wellbeing team, you’ll help drive our Connected Communities vision and shape the future of transport in Elmbridge.
About the role: You’ll provide operational and strategic leadership for our community transport service—ensuring safe, reliable and customer-focused transport for residents. This includes managing staff, overseeing daily scheduling and fleet maintenance, ensuring full legal compliance, managing budgets and procurement, and working collaboratively with internal teams and partners. You’ll also support service development in line with wider Surrey initiatives and emerging transport models.
About you: You’ll bring experience managing frontline operational services, with the confidence to lead and motivate a committed team. You’ll be organised, calm under pressure and strong on problem-solving, safety and financial management with excellent people skills. Experience within community or passenger transport is desirable but a willingness to gain specialist transport qualifications and a demonstrable understanding of the needs of the service are key.
For an informal chat about the role please contact Vicky Wise, Head of Community, Health and Wellbeing.
