This is an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire while promoting our therapeutic ethos for employees, Foster Parents, and the young people we serve.
About the Role
As the Principal Social Worker, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to develop and manage our services. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that the safety and welfare of all young people placed at ISP are prioritized. You will provide operational support and collaborate with Foster Parents to enhance the quality of care and services offered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day operational support to the Registered Manager.
- Oversee staff performance and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and appraise staff members, fostering their professional growth.
- Collaborate with Foster Parents to leverage their expertise and experience.
- Build strong relationships within the Polaris Community and with external partners.
- Manage a caseload of Foster Parents and support them in their roles.
- Deputize for the Registered Manager when necessary, including leading meetings.
What We're Looking For
- Qualifications: Recognized social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
- Experience: Post‑qualifying and supervisory experience, particularly in fostering and children's social work.
- Skills: Ability to challenge effectively, engage others, and demonstrate teamwork.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and best practices in fostering and child safeguarding.
- Driving: Full driving license with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Working Conditions
This is a full‑time, permanent position based in South London, with core hours of 35 hours per week from 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.
