Assistant Manager / Junior Manager - Indirect Tax (Financial Services)

This position would suit an experienced Assistant Manager seeking their next career move, or a high-performing Senior Consultant looking to step into their first management role. Working alongside experienced tax specialists, you will advise clients across a variety of financial services businesses, helping them navigate complex UK indirect tax issues, manage risk, and identify opportunities for improved tax efficiency. The role offers a diverse mix of compliance, advisory, and client relationship management responsibilities, providing excellent scope to broaden your technical expertise and commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising financial services clients on UK VAT and indirect tax matters.
- Supporting the delivery of complex advisory projects and technical reviews.
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser on indirect tax issues.
- Assisting clients with VAT risk management, governance, and compliance obligations.
- Contributing to business development initiatives and identifying opportunities for growth within existing client relationships.
- Coaching and mentoring junior team members.
- Collaborating with colleagues across tax and wider advisory teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
Candidate Profile
- Professionally qualified CTA and/or ACA.
- Strong UK indirect tax experience, ideally gained within a professional services, consulting, or in-house tax environment.
- Sound technical knowledge of UK VAT and indirect tax legislation.
- Experience advising clients within the Financial Services sector is highly desirable; however, candidates with strong indirect tax experience and a genuine interest in the sector will also be considered.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrable ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality client service.
- Ambitious, commercially minded, and keen to develop their career within a growing specialist team.
