The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Senior to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Chelmsford.
This role is ideal for a practice-experienced accountant who enjoys managing a varied portfolio of clients, building strong client relationships, and delivering high-quality accounts and tax services. You'll work closely with Managers and Partners, taking ownership of client assignments while mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
- Preparing management accounts and financial reports.
- Reviewing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax computations.
- Managing a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors.
- Providing clients with technical accounting advice and support.
- Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and maintain strong relationships.
- Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Supporting Managers and Partners with ad hoc assignments and projects.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
- ACA/ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Strong experience preparing statutory accounts for a range of business entities.
- Good knowledge of accounting standards, VAT, and tax compliance.
- Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive and professional approach to client service.
