Our client is a leading quantitative hedge fund seeking a Windows Platform Engineer in London. They are seeking a Windows Platform Engineer to be responsible for the design and build of Microsoft Windows Servers along with virtualisation infrastructure. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the reliability and performance of core technology services which directly supports critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and building Windows Servers and virtualised infrastructure
- Managing core on‑prem services including Active Directory (multi‑forest), Group Policy, Entra ID, backups, and monitoring.
- Deploy and operate VMware ESXi, storage (SAN/NAS), and supporting network integrations.
- Automating server management using Infrastructure as Code
- Monitoring performance and security using observability and SIEM tools (e.g. Splunk).
- Supporting and optimising Citrix DaaS, Azure, Microsoft 365, and Intune environments.
- Providing 2nd Level support along with acting as a 3rd Line escalation for Windows Server issues.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with enterprise Windows Server design, deployment, and large‑scale migrations.
- Experience in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, PKI, and Windows security hardening.
- Automation skills using PowerShell and Ansible for builds, patching, and optimisation.
- Experience with VMware ESXi, Citrix DaaS/VDI, and backup solutions (e.g. Veeam).
- Experience with cloud systems ideally Azure.
