TMT Equity Analyst – Hedge Fund Seeking PE & M&A Associates Octavius Finance London, United Kingdom We are partnering with a boutique hedge fund looking to expand its team with the addition of a skilled equity analyst. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with experience in mid-market Private Equity or M&A Investment Banking who are eager to pivot into public markets. The fund currently manages approximately £500 million in AUM and focuses its investments on European internet and technology equities. This role offers an exciting opportunity for candidates with a genuine passion for public markets and a strong interest in transitioning from M&A or Private Equity into a public equity seat. Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive financial modelling and valuation analysis to assess investment opportunities in technology, software, and internet sectors. Develop robust investment theses, focusing on both long and short positions, with an emphasis on short-side opportunities. Monitor market trends and industry developments to uncover new investment opportunities and potential risks. Collaborate with senior analysts and portfolio managers to provide actionable investment insights and recommendations. Create high-quality research reports, presentations, and supporting materials to aid investment decisions. Requirements: 3-7 years of professional experience, ideally 2-3 years in M&A Investment Banking or Private Equity. Buy-side experience is advantageous but not essential. Proven exposure to the European technology sector. Experience covering cloud accounting software companies would be highly advantageous. Strong technical skills, with expertise in financial modelling and valuations. A genuine passion for public equities, with a deep understanding of equity markets and an eagerness to transition into a long/short equity role. Analytical, driven, and naturally curious, with a particular interest in short-side strategies.
