About the Role

In this highly visible role, you will play a key part in developing business opportunities for Quilter Cheviot, though advisers. Its purpose is to develop sales opportunities through recruiting, developing, motivating and inspiring a team of Business Development Managers (BDM’s), comprising of the BDM’s for the Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds Offices and also a Telephone Account Manager and Sales Support Executive (both to be recruited).

You will be responsible for the development of the plan and the delivery of the new business flows associated with each BDM each year, working closely with the broader team to achieve this, and, widening the number of adviser supporters.

Working with the Head of Financial Planning Business Development you will be instrumental in setting the direction of the distribution strategy, whilst working closely with the Business Development Managers and Investment Managers to achieve agreed annual business targets.

This will mean working with peers to support Business Development and proactively look for opportunities for consistency of approach where appropriate as well as supporting business retention. You will also be expected to support and promote marketing campaigns working in partnership with Marketing colleagues to maximise their value. You will also be responsible for managing the monitoring and co-ordination of activity with Investment Managers, communicating regularly to build trusted relationships in the region.

In addition, you will have responsibilities for your own focused panel of Key Accounts, contributing to the overall performance of the Region.

This role will require you to have a deep understanding of wealth management, working with advisers and ideally, in the discretionary investment management market. The role holder will develop a strong sense of team within the Northern Business Development function and actively look for opportunities for cross collaboration within Investment Management teams and Distribution.

It is crucial that you manage, motivate and develop your team as well as role model the right behaviours, leading from the front as well as ensuring that appropriate team/individual development opportunities are identified.

Consumer Duty:

Even though this role doesn’t directly interact with the end customers, you need to understand our target market and evaluate the value of each service for financial advisers to ensure positive customer outcomes.

About You

If you are delivery focused, with high energy and drive, can deliver through others and have exceptional interpersonal skills – able to negotiate, build relationships and lead, then this role is for you.

It is important that you are comfortable with strategic influencing, through understanding and energising others, and have a flair for problem solving including negotiation and conflict resolution skills. You will need to utilize your strong mentoring and coaching skills to engage and lead all levels of the organization.

You will need to be a self-starter with initiative and creativity, with high level of personal confidence, and be able to lead and manage change through influencing and inspiring others. You will also able to communicate with impact and have proven presentation and communication skills.

With regards to qualifications and experience you will be at least with recognised industry Level 4 examinations and have a successful track record in intermediary sales or similar, preferably with some line management experience.
