About This Role
Capital One’s mission is to change banking for good by bringing humanity, ingenuity and simplicity to banking. Our Software Engineering department is at the core of this mission. We are looking to add Software Development Engineers to one of our web teams. The team manages one of our biggest web platforms and works closely with Product Owners to build features that help customers manage their credit accounts more easily. Over 2024 the team will be actively rebuilding a new React application, providing an even better customer experience.
What you’ll do
- Work as part of a self‑organised full‑stack engineering team in our Acquisitions outcome area, focusing on customer experience and optimising journeys for card applications.
- Collaborate with all 7 of Capital One’s partners – such as ASOS, Post Office, Very, etc. – to develop excellent customer experiences.
- Own ambiguous problems and propose scalable solutions across the stack.
- Address wider business problems, thinking at domain and system level.
- Achieve goals and vision shared by Product Management and leadership.
- Innovate within your technical domain and contribute across the team.
What we’re looking for
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, Cypress and equivalent technologies.
- Strong knowledge of modern web frameworks such as React.js.
- Good understanding of Java and Spring Boot.
- CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud technologies.
- Proven ability to deliver high‑quality applications.
- Comfort with Pair Programming, TDD and BDD approaches.
- Collaborative mindset and support for others within and outside the team.

This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office. We value collaboration and will have you in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
