The Role
- The Assistant Portfolio Manager will contribute written and verbal investment communication for the benefit of external and internal clients, including investment analysis and strategy, and contribute to the operation of managing portfolios via implementation of trades.
- Communicate written portfolio strategy communications for the Wealth Management company’s monthly and quarterly investment output.
- Assist in the creation of outlook and portfolio strategy slides on a periodic basis.
- Attend client meetings individually or with a senior colleague, and present portfolio and market analysis at monthly internal meetings.
- Take ownership of a portfolio tactical position and provide analysis and commentary for the benefit of clients and investment committee.
- Assist in the creation of materials for the investment committee.
- Monitor and maintain a list of portfolios, including ad hoc daily cash management tasks and routine model change trades.
- Manage tailored client criteria within portfolios in line with house views.
- Assist in the maintenance of central models.
- Assist the team with project work and ad hoc tasks.
The Candidate
- 5+ years’ experience within a similar role within Portfolio Management – on the Investment Management / Wealth Management side.
- Experience trading major asset classes within private client portfolios.
- An understanding of all asset classes and portfolio construction.
- Understanding of market cycles, drivers and characteristics, with experience applying this knowledge to portfolio management and positioning.
- Knowledge in multi-asset portfolio construction and risk management, with a sustained framework behind the investment process.
- Relevant industry qualifications (including but not limited to IMC or CFA) are essential.
- Must be able to articulate complex market conditions and solutions to clients.
