A newly-created position has arisen for a hands‑on Compensation Accountant (specifically covering Equity and Shareholding) to join an award‑winning global private equity firm’s Finance team. The company has been on a steady growth trajectory over the last 15 years and has built a really positive, collaborative and professional culture with a strong track record of staff retention and career development. The company also operates with a hybrid working model (3 days from the office and 2 from home).
Profile Criteria
- Part-Qualified, Finalist, Fully-Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or Qualified-by-Experience candidate with ideally experience of compensation accounting (equity and shareholding)
- Solid foundation of accounting and financial control skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Confident user of Excel with knowledge of shareholding systems (Capdesk, Sharetrack or similar) being a nice to have (but not essential)
Responsibilities / Tasks
Shareholding Scheme Administration
- Manage the end-to-end share option process, including issuance, exercises, and maintenance of the option register.
- Administer employee share loans, including calculations, documentation, and accounting.
- Maintain the shareholder register and ensure accurate updates following exercises, repurchases, and transfers.
- Coordinate annual share valuations and act as the primary contact for HMRC queries.
- Respond to shareholder queries and provide regular equity insights to senior management.
Financial Control & Reporting
- Calculate and process dividends, including adjustments for share loans and interest.
- Oversee share repurchase processes, including valuation and documentation.
- Ensure accurate accounting for all equity‑related transactions, including share issuances, loans, interest, and dividends.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns (e.g., ERS, ISO) and support employee tax reporting.
- Collaborate with Finance on bank payments, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Systems & Compliance
- Maintain and optimise the ShareTrack platform and ensure data integrity.
- Coordinate with Legal and Co‑Sec to ensure documentation reflects current scheme terms and complies with jurisdictional requirements.
- Implement controls and workflows to support compliance and audit readiness.
The successful candidate will play an important and integral role in the ongoing growth of the business, reporting to the Group Financial Controller. The role will be based in Central London.
