Programme Overview

Our 12‑month Placement Programme begins on 15th June 2026 and offers a unique opportunity to bridge your academic learning with real‑world financial experience. As a Placement student at Schroders, you will play an active role in the team, contributing to live projects and supporting strategic objectives through research and insightful analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain hands‑on exposure to a wide range of investment activities, learning directly from experienced professionals.
  • Conduct research and provide analytical support that influences key projects and the wider team\’s work.
  • Take ownership of your own assignments, further developing your project management, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Develop practical insights into how economics shapes financial markets and supports investment decision‑making.

Who We\’re Looking For

We are seeking proactive and intellectually curious students with a strong passion for Economics and a keen interest in financial markets. Ideal candidates will thrive in a collaborative environment, show initiative, and be eager to contribute their analytical insight to real‑world challenges. You should be driven to learn, comfortable working with data, and capable of communicating complex ideas clearly to various audiences.

Required Skills and Capabilities

  • Strong understanding of financial markets, key economic indicators, and the wider business environment.
  • Awareness of current affairs and a genuine curiosity about the economic and regulatory landscape in asset management.
  • Proficient in Excel for data analysis and visualisation, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, charts, and macros.
  • Experience handling and reporting data through course projects, training, or work experience.
  • Comfortable working with PowerPoint and Word for supporting presentations and documentation.
  • (Optional) Experience with Python or VBA for data analysis or process automation.
  • Proactive and willing to get involved in projects, showing a self‑starting attitude.
  • Driven by a passion for Economics, with experience balancing multiple commitments or leading new initiatives.
  • Curious and inquisitive, not afraid to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and think creatively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present data and adapt style for various audiences.

Eligibility

You must be pursuing an Economics degree (preferably as a major). Maths A-level is not required.

Applicants should be in their penultimate year of study. We do not accept applications from final year students who plan to pursue further studies.

Availability to start the placement year programme on 15 June 2026 is required.
