As a Specialist Pharmacist in Acute Medicine at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, you will play a crucial role in delivering specialized clinical pharmacy and medicines management services.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking an independent prescribing course or functioning as an independent prescriber within the clinical area, complying with GPhC requirements.
- Providing expert knowledge of medicines to advise consultants, medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff on all aspects of medicines use.
- Delivering pharmaceutical care to patients, recommending, substantiating, and communicating best therapeutic options.
- Implementing changes in prescribing practice to ensure evidence-based medicine is followed.
- Managing risks for the pharmacy service, ensuring compliance with medicines legislation, Trust Medicines Policy, and relevant guidelines.
- Conducting clinical audits of medicine use and pharmacy services within the Acute Medicine service.
- Providing pharmaceutical teaching to pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff.
- Contributing to keeping drug expenditure within agreed limits as directed by the Director and Deputy Director of Pharmacy.
