We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to join our Supply Services team at NHS Jobs in Truro. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dispensary and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to customers and telephone calls promptly and in a friendly manner.
- Receive prescriptions following current procedures through the prescription tracking system.
- Dispense medication for in-patients, out-patients, and patient discharge, including oral cytotoxic medication.
- Generate labels using the pharmacy computer system, ensuring accurate issues points and providing clear directions for patients.
- Maintain accurate records using the pharmacy computer system and adhere to Pharmacy Archive Procedure for paper records.
- Perform reception duties, dealing with patients and NHS staff enquiries face to face or by telephone.
- Dispense medicines according to standard operating procedures under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist.
- Conduct routine stock checks and expiry date checks, ensuring proper stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment through daily and weekly cleaning and tidying of the dispensary.
- Ensure accuracy in all stages of the dispensing process and pass the South West Dispensing Accuracy Assessment every 2 years.
- Utilize the automated dispensing machine as required by the department.
- Perform all activities in accordance with training and departmental standard operating procedures.
