Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Chief Pharmacist following the retirement of the current post holder. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative pharmacy leader with a proven track record in delivering excellence in pharmacy and medicines optimization services. The ideal candidate will have specialist expertise and will take on delegated responsibilities from the CEO for all aspects of medicines optimization, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. In this role, you will set strategic directions, provide professional expertise, and support your teams with compassion and care. This position also offers opportunities in personalized medicine, advanced medicinal technologies, research, and digital excellence, as well as modernizing services within new hospital builds. Outstanding leadership skills, high motivation, resilience, and excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are essential. You will also be expected to represent and contribute to national pharmacy networks and professional groups.
Main Duties
- Provide specialist expertise and take on delegated responsibilities from the CEO for all aspects of medicines optimization, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities, including roles such as Superintendent Pharmacist, Trust Accountable Officer for Controlled Drugs, and Medicines Homecare.
- Ensure all relevant regulatory licenses and registrations are maintained, including those with the Home Office, MHRA, and GPhC.
- Serve as Chief Pharmacist SRO for East Genomics Medicines Alliance.
- Offer professional leadership to pharmacy staff, focusing on their development and support, and enable professional career frameworks in line with NHS England initiatives.
- Lead pharmacy and medicines optimization and transformation to ensure services are progressive, responsive, patient-focused, safe, efficient, and effective.
- Foster excellent partnership working with NHS England and ICB stakeholders.
- Support and drive the delivery of research, audit, improvement, and evaluation to enhance outcomes and service development.
- Manage financial responsibilities through cost-effective resource use and medicines procurement.
- Engage with regional and national organizations and networks to keep services at the forefront of practice.
