NHS Jobs is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team in London, E1 1FR. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in accurately labeling and dispensing medication across various prescription types, ensuring adherence to key performance indicators and minimizing waiting times for patients.
Responsibilities
- Accurately label and dispense medication for various prescriptions, including inpatients, TTAs, controlled drugs, clinical trials, and chemotherapy, meeting agreed delivery times.
- Perform hatch duties, including receiving and logging prescriptions, handling queries, and answering telephone calls.
- Act as a workflow coordinator in the dispensary, liaising with senior pharmacy technicians.
- Address and resolve concerns from patients, service users, and stakeholders, escalating issues to senior staff when necessary.
- Understand and operate the pharmacy automation system, addressing discrepancies and problems promptly.
- Investigate stock level discrepancies within the dispensary, conduct daily stock checks, and manage expiry date checks.
- Participate in the disposal of expired pharmaceuticals and follow standard operating procedures for stock control.
- Perform daily stock and expiry date checks for emergency drug cupboards.
- Undertake the Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) program to fulfil the role of an accuracy checking pharmacy technician.
- Conduct fridge temperature checks for relevant cold storage units.
Qualifications and Skills
- Qualified Pharmacy Technician with relevant certifications.
- Experience in accurately labeling and dispensing medication in a healthcare setting.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with pharmacy automation systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Knowledge of stock control procedures and expiry date checks.
- Willingness to undertake the Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) program.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet delivery timeframes.
