The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Pharmacist to develop and maintain clinical pharmacy services within a specialized area or directorate, aligned with the overall Trust clinical pharmacy strategy. This role involves contributing to various pharmacy patient services and promoting the safe, rational, and cost-effective use of medications.

The Specialist Pharmacist will work closely with nursing and medical staff, as well as healthcare managers, to ensure optimal patient care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Clinical Services Development: Enhance and maintain specialized clinical pharmacy services within a designated area, supporting the Trust’s overall clinical pharmacy strategy.
  • Patient Services Participation: Engage in the provision of various pharmacy patient services, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
  • Medication Management: Work with healthcare professionals to promote the safe, rational, and cost-effective use of medications.
  • Professional Support: Offer advice, supervision, and collaboration with colleagues, especially in supporting absent team members.
  • Patient-Centred Care: Assist patients in achieving their health goals related to medications through dedicated, person-centred care.
