The NHS is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Southend-on-Sea. This permanent, full-time role offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work within a dynamic healthcare environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Main Purpose: The primary role of the Pharmacy Technician is to support the management and development of prescribing systems, ensuring safe, effective, and quality prescribing within the network’s member practices. The technician will collaborate closely with the PCN Clinical Pharmacist on individual prescribing projects and audits, fostering strong working relationships with local community pharmacies to provide high-quality patient services.
- Complex Prescribing Queries: Act as the lead contact for any complex prescribing queries on behalf of the network.
- Training and Development: Assist in training new pharmacy staff (Pharmacy Technicians) to ensure they are well-equipped for their roles.
- CQC Measures and PCN Targets: Support member surgeries in meeting their CQC measures and PCN-driven targets (IIF).
- Clinical Administration: Assist the Operations Manager with clinical administration tasks to ensure smooth operation.
Person Specification
Experience
- Essential: Extensive experience in relevant clinical practice areas. Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Evidence of ongoing Continuous Professional Development through portfolio documentation. Experience in delegation and supervision. Proven ability to work flexibly and effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time effectively. Experience in managing change and conflict situations.
- Desirable: Experience in conducting audits.
Qualifications
- Essential: NVQ Level 3 / BTECH in Pharmacy Services or an equivalent nationally recognized qualification. Accredited Checking Technician Qualification.
- Desirable: Additional Accredited Checking Technician Qualification.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This position requires a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions, as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
