UHS Pharmacy Ltd (UPL) is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Pharmacy Dispenser to join our dynamic and friendly team. We are dedicated to delivering top-notch, specialized pharmaceutical services to the Outpatient Department of the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (The Trust).
UPL, a subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, operates a vibrant pharmacy located in the main foyer of the hospital. Our pharmacy provides a comprehensive range of over-the-counter medicines and products, catering to hospital staff, outpatients, and visitors. We pride ourselves on our professional service, aimed at enhancing patient care and health outcomes.
Working Hours
Our pharmacy operates Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00 and on Saturday mornings from 09:00 to 13:00. The working hours for this role are scheduled on a rota basis across these six days to meet business needs.
Role Responsibilities
- Dispensing and Labelling: Accurately dispense and label medication from hospital outpatient prescriptions. Generate computer labels and maintain records for clinical trials, named patient medications, and controlled drugs.
- Customer Service: Assist on the front counter, providing advice and excellent service to patients and customers. Receive prescriptions, ensuring proper recording and financial transactions, including checking prescription fees and exemptions.
- Stock Management: Maintain good stock control, including ordering, receipting deliveries, and ensuring stock rotation. Check expiry dates, stock shelves, and ensure the security of stock. Stock the robot as necessary to ensure it runs effectively.
- Operational Support: Assist the Superintendent Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager in service provision. Keep the work area safe, clean, and well-supplied with necessary items. Perform start and end-of-day duties, including cashing up, banking, filing, and ordering of OTC sales.
- Communication and Compliance: Communicate effectively with pharmacy team members, hospital staff, and patients. Achieve and maintain in-house competencies in relevant areas of practice. Use all relevant technology appropriately after training.
- Additional Duties: Complete other tasks requested by the Superintendent Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager to support the effective running of the Pharmacy.
